Would you like to use your organisational skills to make a real difference in your community? Melton Mencap is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Trustee to step into the key role of Secretary to the Trustee Board. This is a vital governance position that ensures our operational and strategic direction remains strong as we continue delivering life-enhancing opportunities for people with learning disabilities and their families.
Having supported Melton Mowbray and the surrounding areas for over 60 years, we are proud of our history and ambitious for our long-term future.
About the Role
As Secretary, you will play a central role in keeping our governance running smoothly and ensuring our Board of Trustees operates effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting Coordination: Organise and prepare agendas for monthly two-hour Board meetings.
- Minute Taking: Record and distribute accurate, clear, and timely minutes.
- Governance & Compliance: Maintain essential Board documentation, records, and administrative policies.
- Communication Hub: Act as the central link to keep communication flowing efficiently across the Board and leadership team.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a community-minded individual who brings:
- Strong organisational, administrative, or secretarial experience.
- Excellent written communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Reliability, discretion, and a commitment to good governance practices.
- Enthusiasm for contributing significantly to the vision and future of an established local charity.
Additional Opportunity: Volunteer Trustee – Treasurer
We are also currently recruiting a Volunteer Trustee Treasurer to strengthen our governance team. If you have a background in finance, accounting, or financial governance, combined with strong community leadership skills, we would be delighted to discuss this role with you as well.
