Our main hall is the heart of Melton Mencap, hosting a wide range of our daily activities and programmes. Our facility offers step-free access for wheelchair users throughout, with no need for ramps or lifts. The hall is equipped with an extensive range of resources including a large interactive screen. Our hall isn’t just for our own activities—it’s also available for hire to the local community for events and special occasions where families and groups are looking for an inclusive venue.
Lounge / Sensory Room
Our lounge is a dedicated sanctuary designed for relaxation and focused support. Equipped with a sensory unit and a small amount of soft play equipment, it provides a soothing environment for children and young people to
explore. It also serves as a peaceful retreat when the main hall gets a little too loud, and doubles as a private space for 1:1 support and meetings.
Kitchen
Our modern, accessible kitchen, is fully equipped with height-adjustable worksurfaces to ensure everyone can get involved. This space is more than just a place to cook – it’s a hub for learning practical life skills providing vital stepping stones towards independent living. Our kitchen can host cookery sessions and has a washing machine and drier in a separate utility area. Sessions using these facilities can assist service users in greater independence within supported living.
Changing Places Toilet
Our changing places toilet is equipped with a hoist and changing bed for those with more profound physical disabilities. The spacious design allows plenty of room for wheelchairs to be manoeuvred.
Garden
Our enclosed small outdoor space offers the perfect balance of activity and relaxation. For those who love to stay active, our artificial lawn—complete with mini football goal and a variety of outdoor toys—provides a safe, durable surface for year-round play.
For those seeking a calmer experience, our beautiful flower borders create a sensory environment, while quiet seating areas offer a peaceful spot to enjoy the fresh air. It is a versatile space designed to cater to everyone’s sensory needs and physical interests.
