Our services include in-home and community support, which also provides much-needed respite for families and carers. We also run Day Services to build confidence and skills, alongside a range of evening Gateway Clubs that promote socialisation and community engagement.

We work alongside our clients and their families to help them with all aspects of daily living. This includes support with essential life skills like managing appointments and medication, personal care and meal preparation, as well as assistance with hobbies and social activities. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive and achieve their personal best.

At Melton Mencap, we offer flexible, person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities, both in their own homes and in the wider community. Our services are designed to empower individuals to live as independently as possible while also providing vital respite for families and carers.
Each client has a bespoke support plan, which is regularly reviewed, that is tailored to specific needs and goals. We are proud to offer a highly skilled staff team and a service that can be as flexible as needed, with support available any day of the week, at any time.
We can assist with a wide range of activities. This includes support with daily living tasks like preparing meals, doing household jobs, and attending appointments. We also help people to attend Day Services and take part in personal and leisure activities such as social events, clubs, going to the gym, swimming, or volunteering in the community.
Melton Mencap offers flexible Day Service options to suit individual needs. All Day Services are run by a Leader and Assistant Leader.
Individual 1:1 support can be provided by Melton Mencap, or attendees can be supported by their own carers, if required.
Half day sessions are also available.

Monday: Craft and Design Group
12:30pm to 3:15pm
Get creative and develop new skills and explore a wide range of crafts in our dynamic design group!
We offer a fun and supportive environment where members can plan and design individual projects and contribute to collaborative group efforts.
We’ve created everything from T-shirts and letter racks to woven baskets, wind chimes and flower planters, just to name a few.
We also practice essential life skills by shopping for project supplies and prioritize using recycled materials.
Join us and learn at your own pace in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Tuesday: Cookery
9:00 am to 3:00 pm (Half Day also available)
Develop essential cooking skills and boost your kitchen confidence with our cookery day service.
Each week, we explore new sweet and savoury recipes, learning techniques that promote independence in the kitchen.
We work together to plan our menus in advance, incorporating budgeting skills and often shopping for our own ingredients.
Friday: Music and Drama Group
9:15 am to 3:15 pm (Half Day also available)
Unleash your creativity and express yourself through music and drama.
We start each session with an uplifting sing-along, featuring individual song choices and instrumental accompaniment.
We collaboratively write and produce our own plays, transforming them into films or live performances for family and friends. We’ve even recently delighted a local nursery with a puppet show!
All these activities help build confidence and provide a positive outlet for self-expression. We also regularly welcome visiting artists and groups who lead workshops and provide entertainment.
Monday Gateway – Swimming Club
Our fun and friendly Swimming Club is for people aged 14 and over.
We meet every Monday evening at Waterfield Baths in Melton, with our session running from 6:45 pm to 7:45 pm. We have exclusive use of both the main pool and the teaching pool. It’s a great opportunity to get active, socialise, and enjoy the water.
Tuesday Gateway
Our Tuesday Gateway Club is a weekly social group for older adults with a learning disability, meeting every week from 7 pm to 9 pm. It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop social and independence skills, meet new people, and have fun in a supportive environment.
The club’s activities are member-led, meaning you decide what we do each week! We enjoy a mix of community outings and centre-based activities.
Community outings often include pub meals, bowling, theatre trips, and skittles. Activities at the Mencap Centre are planned by the group and may include Film Nights, Bingo, Cooking, Boccia, Karaoke and Crafts.
Wednesday Gateway
Our weekly Wednesday Gateway Club is a lively group for all adults with a wide range of learning disabilities. Meeting at the Mencap Centre from 7 pm to 9 pm, it’s the perfect place to meet friends and take part in social activities.
With members deciding what we do, our fun nights include a mix of creative, active, and social pursuits like Discos, Karaoke, Themed Evenings, Keep Fit, Cooking, and Crafts, along with special visits from musicians and workshop leaders. It’s an exciting way to get together and explore new interests.
Friday Gateway
Friday Gateway Club, our social group for younger adults with disabilities. We love to get out and about in the local community every Friday night, exploring different venues and experiencing new things. This club is a fantastic opportunity to develop social and independence skills and have fun with friends in a supportive and safe environment.
Popular activities include Pub Meals, Theatre Trips, Skittles, Birthday Celebrations, 10 Pin Bowling. Our dedicated staff ensure the safety of all club members on every night out.
